As a football and basketball player during his grade school years, Chris was active in his youth but digressed while in college at the University of Washington and post-college as he progressed in his corporate career in technology, where he spent close to a decade at Amazon.
In 2013, Chris decided to take control of his health. At this point, he was pushing 300 pounds and letting the stress of his job take a toll on his nutrition, sleep, and overall health. Two events in 2013 helped to shift his mindset to ensure his own health was a priority: 1) the upcoming birth of his daughter, and 2) a Spartan Race he completed with friends. His first step was to enter a gym, and thankfully, he found SSP. Over 4 years, he built strength and got healthy as an active member of this community.
In 2018, Chris became inspired by his own transformation experience and passionate about how he can give back to others. When he is not at the gym, you can find him running Spartan Races at longer and longer distances and hanging with his wife, 5 year old daughter and dog. Chris is a Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Precision Nutrition L1 Certified Coach, Spartan Race SGX Certified Coach, Girls Gone Strong Certified Pre & Postnatal Coach, Functional Movement Systems L1 Certified, and a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist.

Rosel graduated from Seattle University in March 2019 and has been a personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach at SU since August 2018. She is excited to grow and continue her journey as a coach at Seattle Strength and Performance. Most of all, she is thrilled to meet and work with all of the SSP coaches and members, as well as be a part of the SSP family. Her specialties include barbell strength training and conditioning. Outside of the weight room, Rosel loves to read, watch anime, try new beers with friends, get tattoos, take lots of photos on her digital and film cameras, and is passionate about LGBTQ+/gender/racial/age equality, mental health awareness, and all animals (turtles are her favorite!).
Steven is a Pacific Northwest native and was fortunate to experience a multitude of outdoor and team sports throughout his childhood. Throughout his formative years, an eagerness to elevate athletic performance (and a desire to dunk a basketball before his older brother) led him to the world of health and wellness, and he never looked back! After graduating from the University of Washington in 2020 Steven decided to follow his passion and pursue a career in the fitness industry. Steven will be beginning a Masters program in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a focus in Human Performance in late 2020.
Outside of the gym Steven loves to be outdoors, spend time with friends and family, and read.
